Seminar  on Effective Fire Protection System Design

A Seminar was organised on Effective Fire Protection System Design for third year students by Mr. Anil C. Mahajan. He is a respected figure in fire protection services with over 35 years of experience. Educated in Fire Engineering at the National Fire Service College in Nagpur and further trained in Fire Service College, UK, Mr. Mahajan is well-versed in BIS Standards, NFPA codes, and the National Building Code of India. He explained Passive strategies along with fire alarm systems, fire detection and notification systems, suppression agents and systems, water distribution systems, automatic sprinkler systems, standpipe and hose systems, and portable fire extinguishers. He also talked about the standards given in NBC for fire fighting. Mr. Mahajan discussed and suggested the fire layouts for the students’ high rise structure.


Symposium on trends in Urban Planning

One day seminar was organized to expose students to the latest trends in urban planning. It was intended for a multidisciplinary audience. Faculty members and students from other disciplines like civil engineering, planning and architecture attended the seminar. Sulekha Vaijapurkar madam represented the government sector along with Mr. Divyank Sonawane sir. Both of them elaborated on various scales of the government process and working of the department for Urban planning domain. Mr. Niranjan Shah sir represented the industry, Credai and real estate sector and put forth his viewpoints about the planning processes. Ms. Oormi Kapadia represented the academia and industry interaction where she presented her recent recommendations given to the government about improvements to be done in Mumbai’s development plan. This was a publication from learning from analysis of 6 metro cities forming recommendations for sustainable future development of mumbai city. Students were engaged in the various sessions and learned various aspects of the urban planning domain beyond theoretical understanding.


Online Seminar for MOOC Preparation lecture series

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have become an essential approach for diverse learners to upgrade their knowledge and skills. While preparing for the MOOCs ,it is more important to focus on the pedagogy of how to use the MOOC features effectively to foster student engagement and learning. The objective of this seminar was to know about the design principles and guidelines to create a learner-centric MOOC. In this lecture, Dr.Chani  discussed  the Learner-Centric MOOC (LCM) model, and how it should be applied  to create effective MOOCs. He guided us about the course contents, the ideal timings of each module, designing the PPT, and the body language of the teacher. He talked about the selection of the language, and how to maintain the continuity of the previous module. He explained how to bifurcate   the total content of the course. Ar. Farhan Asim explained about the copyright guidelines, auto graded assignment questions, manual grading , videos and interactions . He also guided about the question paper requirements and creation of question paper using tools and its advantages.

The second lecture was delivered by Dr.Sanghamitra Basu. She guided the faculty on various stages of  MOOC , that includes
