Product design is the part of the larger, macro level discipline of Industrial Design. This specialization imparts thorough understanding of the need, users, materials, processes to translate the analysis and understanding to real life design solutions through ideation, explorations and validation. This discipline aims at equipping the young professionals with the skills of craft, excellence of design, know how of technologies with a deep sense of social responsibility and sensitivity towards the Indian needs and issues. Practical training with design firms or industries, exposes the students to the practical design development process. Environmental perception in the foundation year and craft documentation in 2nd year exposes the students to the concerns and needs of the rural fabric of India and the rich traditional heritage of the arts and crafts of the country.
