The online presentation by Ms. Sandhya Mhatre from HOC Pillai College of Architecture, Rasayani, focused on climate-responsive Wada architecture with a case study of a traditional Wada located in Pen, Maharashtra. The session aimed to highlight how vernacular design elements such as courtyards, thick walls, shaded verandahs, and local materials contribute to thermal comfort and sustainability. Through detailed analysis and visual documentation, the presentation emphasized the relevance of traditional architectural practices in addressing modern climate challenges, inspiring students to integrate such principles into contemporary design thinking.

ADVANCED REVIT-CAD ARCHITECTURE

Under the Elective-VI Course, 27 students from 5th Year B.Arch learned REVIT-CAD software. Training Course provided the students an advanced REVIT training w.r.t. – Intro. to BIM & CAD, UI, Importing, VG, Levels, Tools, Modeling Materials & Building Component, VR, Underlay, Views Model in Place, Roof, Ceiling, Lighting, Rendering Toposurface & Massing, Exporting, Sheet Composition Detailing, Link Revit, Family Types &Family Creation This Elective Course provided an opportunity to understand & learn about various practical aspects like – Enhancing Creativity and Innovation using software, Improving Design Efficiency with REVIT-CAD, Integration with Emerging Technologies with the help of BIM, prerequisites for preparing for the future practices.
Global changes and its impact on Urban Design and Architecture

It is important to introduce students to various approaches to urban design practice globally. Architect Abhijeet Mandrakar, from Netherlands was invited to open up students’ minds about the same. He started with a statistics showing the changing trends in architecture. He spoke about varied scale projects from a small bungalow extension to a large institute and master planning extension projects. He elaborated on design process of each project and how it influences the overall urban context. Students were intrigued to see a completely different approach to project conceptualisation to designing, planning and execution. The engaging question-answer session dealt with range of questions like urban conservation, designing in context, challenging the existing norms and so on

Guest lecture by CA Prathmesh Adhikari on Taxation

Every year expert guest lecture on the topic of Taxation, Banking and Insurance are identified to value add the course curriculum and provide the practical information to the students. Efforts are taken to call the experts from the field to conduct the lectures. Activities based on the lecture learnings such as assignments, collection of information those are needed to achieve the lecture outcomes, are undertaken during the lectures allotted for institute philosophy for the respective year which are over and above the stipulated time for the respective subject conduct. Thus following the institute philosophy – “Learning by doing”. Guest lecture on Taxation, Banking and Insurance was organised on the same lines. The workshop began with presentation by CA Prathmesh Adhikari sir imparting basic knowledge about Taxation, Banking and Insurance etc. He also presented the different laws related to this topic. He discussed in detail the dos and don’ts on this topic. He guided the students on the procedures to deal with this topic and advised the students about the precautions to be taken for this. He answered queries raised by students.
