NEP Preparedness: Interior Design Programme

The first session was on NEP verticals Courses, Approach towards Curriculum
and Syllabus structure which was conducted by Dr. Prajakta Baste. She explained about the salient features of NEP and derivation of Policy features in connection to B. Design Programme. In this she deliberated on NEP Verticals & Courses
adopted for the programme of AICTE – B. Des. (Interior Design), such as the
Multidisciplinary approach, outcome based learning, Internship based courses etc. The various verticals, the subject aligned with them and the subject progression from 1st to 4th year were explained. She also explained about the Credit based systems, concept of levels and its implication of different titles such as Certificate Course, Diploma, Degree, and degree with Honor’s in detail.
The second session was conducted by BoS member Prof. Natasha Parsai.
She explained about the Formative method of assessment and ways it can be aligned with Design education. She described about the Assessment and Evaluation methods, as explained in NEP Guidelines, gave details on the Outcome based education as described by the policy document. She explained in detail about the Course Outcome documentation. Credit conversion, Grading systems and Result preparation were also clarified.

Unlocking Innovation – A Practical Guide to Patent Searching & Analysis

The session titled “Unlocking Innovation – A Practical Guide to
Patent Searching & Analysis” was conducted with the aim of
building awareness around intellectual property and its role in
innovation.
• The session began with an introduction to patents, their
significance, and how they protect original ideas.
• Students were guided through the structure of a patent
document and taught how to interpret key sections such as
claims, abstracts, and classifications. A hands-on demonstration
of patent search tools and databases, like Google Patents and
Espacenet, allowed students to explore real-world examples.

National Start-up and Innovation Day Celebration.

Start-up India Innovation Week was being scheduled to take place from 10th
January to 18th January 2025, along with the celebration of National Start-up
Day on 16th January. This program was a part of India’s nationwide initiative
to promote entrepreneurship and support the creation of new start-ups
under the Government’s Start-up India mission. To align with this vision, MVPS’s SP College of Architecture had organized a program featuring talks on start-up awareness, keynote sessions, and presentations showcasing the success stories of start-ups. The event was scheduled for 16th January 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM, at the seminar hall of KBTCOE Nashik. In Maharashtra, the recognized start-ups had reached 25984 with the highest number of unicorns in the country.
The Intent was to give exposure to the students about the ecosystem and the
schemes of the Government of India about the start-ups in the country. The talk
was delivered by Shri Shreekant Patil. The start journey with its highs lows
and conversions was shared by Mrs. Komal Ahire and Mr.Yash Sonar.

• Types of Intellectual Property: Patents, copyrights,
trademarks, and trade secrets.
• Patent Process & Criteria: Understanding how
inventions qualify for patent protection and the
steps involved.
• Importance of IPR for Inventors: How protecting
ideas can lead to commercialization,
recognition, and societal impact.
• Ethics & Responsibility in Innovation: Encouraging
responsible and ethical invention practices.

Seminar on Bridging Theory and Practice: Empowering Students to File

 A seminar was conducted by Ar. Jagdish Kolhe for 4th-year Product and Furniture Design students to enhance academic and professional competencies. The session focused on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and its relevance in the context of business model development. Key topics covered included components of IPR such as copyright, patents, trademarks, and procedures for design registration. This lecture provided students with practical insights into the registration process and the broader framework of IPR, enriching their understanding and preparing them for professional engagements. The session was highly beneficial in bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.
